Ball is in Blues' court over a move for Doyle

BLUES are reportedly 'leading the race' to complete the transfer of Wolves midfielder Tommy Doyle.

Doyle cost Wolves just over £4 million when they signed him from Manchester City last summer following a successful loan spell.

The 23-year-old has made 58 appearances for Wanderers since joining initially in the summer of 2023, but didn’t play again for Vitor Pereira after mid-March.

It has been reported Pereira will allow Doyle to leave on a permanent basis this summer, with the midfielder not set to feature in the Portuguese's plans moving forwards - and that Blues are interested in completing a deal.

In a brutal assessment of Doyle's suitability to Wolves' style in the Premier League, Pereira said: “Technically-speaking, he’s a very good player, but in my opinion he’s missing the physicality to face this league.
