New hangars installed for bike storage
Bath Chronicle
|June 19, 2025
A further tranche of cycle hangars offering secure bike storage have been installed in Bath.
-
This latest phase sees 20 new hangars installed - adding to the 21 already in place - supporting Bath & North East Somerset Council's commitment to promoting active travel and sustainable transport.
Each hangar provides secure, weather-protected storage for up to six bicycles and occupies just half the space of a standard car parking bay.
Spaces are available to rent for a fee of £60 per year.
A secure space to store cycles aims to encourage more people to consider using a bicycle and to enable more travel choices as well as helping improve health and wellbeing.
Since the hangars were introduced in 2023, the occupancy rate has grown to 94%, as of April this year.
In Bath alone, the hangars have been at capacity for almost one year.
