PARA sprinter Euan Murray certainly rose to the occasion when representing Great Britain in the Loughborough International last weekend.

- Kevin Fahey

The 17-year-old team Bath AC athlete, who competes in the T64 category for athletes with the absence of one leg below the knee, dipped inside 12 seconds for the first time with 11.91lsecs to finish second and first U20 in the Para 100m.

It was Murray's second PB of the season, clipping 0.27secs off the time he ran at the Yeovil Spring Open last month and means that he has improved by 0.45secs since last year and shows that the hard work he is doing with Team Bath coach Graham Mattacks is paying off handsomely.

Also racing the 100m at Loughborough was clubmate Ash Avis, who finished third in race 2 clocking 10.82secs (+0.7w). Avis, who is also coached by Mattacks, then recorded 21.87secs (-1.1w) for seventh and top U20 in the 200m.
