Tips given to reroute exports to Myanmar

Myanmar suggests Thai exporters reroute their exports to the Ranong and Mae Sai checkpoints due to strict import controls at the Mae Sot checkpoint in Tak.
Myanmar closed the Myawaddy-Mae Sot border and Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge 2 on Aug 18, affecting Thai exports to Myanmar.
Arada Fuangtong, director-general of the Department of Foreign Trade, said yesterday that representatives from the Commerce Ministry had held discussions with Zaw Zaw Soe, Myanmar's ambassador to Thailand, to ease the implementation regarding Myanmar’s import licence.
