Malaysian artist explores pineapple history
Bangkok Post
|April 28, 2025
Pineapple is the subject of research and conversation at “After the Pineapple”, which is running at Warin Lab Contemporary, until May 31.
-
This is the first solo exhibition by Cheong See Min, a promising Malaysian artist who brings a new body of work that culminates years of exploration and experimentation with the pineapple as fruit, material and myth.
She combines fibre, weaving, sculpture and installation to create the works grounded in nature and history, interrogating the relationship between nature and humans. For her, weaving is an act of communication that mediates between the past and present.
