Landmine injures two soldiers

Thai soldiers yesterday during a routine patrol in Huai Ta Maria in Si Sa Ket's Kantharalak district.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said yesterday that he had been fully briefed on the incident, which occurred in an area opposite Cambodia's Preah Vihear Temple, and supported the actions taken by the Defence Ministry and the armed forces.

"All ongoing operations will be put on hold until there is clarity," Mr Anutin said. "I will inform both the Defence Ministry and the Foreign Affairs Ministry that Thailand will proceed only in accordance with its own national interests.

"This latest incident makes it clear that hostility along the border — which we had hoped was easing — has not in fact decreased. Given that, we cannot continue with any further activities for now."
