Hearing on digital TV direction ordered

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) board recently granted approval for the NBTC office to hold a public hearing on its proposal for guidelines to regulate and promote the digital TV industry, with a conclusion expected by the end of this year.
The proposal calls for the regulator to draw up a roadmap to develop the TV broadcasting industry prior to the licence expiry of digital TV broadcasters in April 2029.
The NBTC is analysing future scenarios for Thailand's TV broadcasting sector and its regulatory framework, in line with the fast-changing industry landscape.
A source on the NBTC board who requested anonymity said the board and office discussed many issues regarding the office's proposal.
