Gold revives ahead of US-China trade talks
Bangkok Post
|May 12, 2025
Gold prices rose last week as investors digested comments on tariffs from President Donald Trump ahead of weekend talks between US and Chinese trade officials.
-
The afternoon fixing on Friday in London was $3,324.55 an ounce, compared with $3,249.70 a week earlier. Thai selling prices were quoted at 51,950 baht per baht-weight (15.2 grammes), up 1,100 baht from the previous week.
Prices were also supported by nervousness about hostilities between India and Pakistan, with drones and artillery used in the worst fighting between the two in nearly three decades.
A hedge against geopolitical and economic uncertainties, gold has risen more than 27% since the start of the year.
