Dept poised to put alert system to test

The first-ever nationwide test of the Cell Broadcast disaster alert system will take place on May 2, 7 and 13, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM).
The tests aim to ensure the system’s readiness to deliver fast, accurate alerts to the public during emergencies, DDPM director-general Pasakorn Boonyalak said yesterday.
Mr Pasakorn announced the testing schedule on Wednesday, stating that the system will be tested across various regions to assess its real-world performance and improve inter-agency coordination.
