Department shrugs off US levy proposal for foreign films
Bangkok Post

The Tourism Department is unfazed by US President Donald Trump's plan to impose tariffs on films produced outside America, saying such a move is unlikely to affect foreign film shoots in Thailand in the short term, as most productions have already been planned.
Trump's proposed 100% tariff on foreign-produced films has sent shockwaves throughout the film industry, including in Thailand, which earned 1.02 billion baht from US film productions last year.
Jaturon Phakdeewanit, director-general of the department, said the measure should not impact foreign film shoots over the next few years, as most films have already been scheduled to be shot in Thailand and utilise production facilities in the country.
