AG to appeal Vorayuth hit-and-run acquittals

The Attorney-General has decided to appeal against a court ruling that acquitted a former national police chief and five others over the 2012 fatal hit-and-run case involving Red Bull scion Vorayuth Yoovidhya.
Sakkasem Nisaiyok, spokesman of the Office of the Attorney-General, said yesterday Attorney-General Phairach Pornsomboonsiri decided last Friday to appeal against the acquittal. The six defendants were accused of changing the speed of a Ferrari driven by Mr Vorayuth after the hit-and-run resulted in the death of Pol Snr Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert. The changed speed led to the dismissal of the indictment for reckless driving.
