'Not enough staff' at after school club say inspectors
Ayrshire Post
|July 16, 2025
An after school club was placed under the microscope during an unannounced inspection by a care scrutiny body.
Alloway After School Club, based next to Alloway Primary School, was graded as 'good' across three quality indicators and 'adequate' across one other.
The gradings come from the Care Inspectorate who made an unannounced visit to the club in May with their findings now published.
Among the key messages the Care Inspectorate said children benefited from staff who were "warm, kind, and caring." And staff were "responsive" to children and "supported them" in developing their ideas through play.
The positives continued; families were encouraged to "influence improvements" within the service.
However, to support children's health and wellbeing, the snack and mealtime experiences "should be further developed," according to the Care Inspectorate.
And the provider must ensure the "appropriate number of qualified and competent staff" are working to "meet the needs of children."
