Exhibition on coal set for display

East Ayrshire Leisure has opened 'Before and After Coal: Images and Voices from Scottish Coal Mining Communities', a new exhibition exploring the enduring legacy of coal mining in Scotland through photography, oral history, and community engagement.

The exhibition is free and runs until August 23 at the Baird Institute in Cumnock.

In 1982, American social documentary photographer Milton Rogovin travelled to Scotland to photograph miners at work, at home, and during their leisure time.

Forty years later, artist Nicky Bird revisited these communities, meeting with individuals and families connected to Rogovin's original subjects.
