Care home set to close its doors in January

Suncourt Care Home in Troon’s Crosbie Road is to close, the local authority’s health and social care partnership has confirmed.

The home was placed under the microscope in May when it was subject to an unannounced inspection on the service it provides.

At the time care scrutiny bosses graded the home 'weak' across four quality indicators and 'good' across one other.

But there was no indication at the time that the care home would close its doors, only requirements set out by the Care Inspectorate to drive forward improvements.

In their last report the Care Inspectorate warned: "Whilst we identified some strengths, these were compromised by significant weaknesses."

The Post has learned, though, that bosses have taken the "incredibly hard decision" to close the home.
