Relief to farmers as govt rolls out land resolution

State gives farmers 1-year window to get agriculturist certificate after land conversion to NA use, 2 years for purchase of new agricultural land

The state government has rolled out a resolution giving farmers a one-year window to obtain an agriculturist certificate after converting their land to non-agricultural use. This move brings relief to thousands of Gujarat farmers struggling with land conversion issues.

The resolution also requires farmers to buy agricultural land within two years of receiving their certificate, ensuring they continue farming activities. This notification came out last year following a Gujarat High Court judgment that overturned a deputy collector's decision to deny a certificate to a farmer who had converted his agricultural land for multipurpose use.
