Move aimed at ensuring organisers comply with 30 safety and security norms issued by the police

With just a week left for Navratri, the city police, which has so far received 49 applications for hosting garba, are tightening the reins on organisers.
As of Monday, the cops have yet to approve any of these applications, which have been forwarded to the respective local police stations for spot verification.
In a first, the police are also making it mandatory for organisers to submit affidavits confirming compliance with the prescribed 30 safety and security norms. “This is to ensure accountability. Organisers will be held responsible in case of any untoward incident,” a senior police official said.
