Singer-actress Lady Gaga has opened up about the mental health crisis she faced while filming A Star Is Born and during the months that followed, saying she was on lithium at the time and came close to a psychotic break.

In a candid cover story for Rolling Stone, the 39-year-old singer said she was struggling intensely when she took on the role of Ally in the 2017 film. Lithium, she explained, was part of her treatment. The medication is commonly used as a mood stabiliser, including for bipolar disorder.
