A storm has broken out in the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) after interviews were lined up for eight Assistant Station Officer posts without holding the mandatory written examination. The decision, which ran contrary to state rules governing Class 3 and 4 appointments, sparked allegations of a recruitment racket and ultimately forced the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to cancel the interviews.
