LABOUR MP for Hyndburn, Sarah Smith has welcomed a summit aimed to strengthen the UK’s relationship with the EU.
-

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will host Presidents Von Der Leyen and Costa in London for the first-ever UK-EU Summit on May 19.
‘The goal is to establish a new ‘strategic partnership’ that enhances co-operation on safety, security, and the economy.
Hyndburn’s Sarah Smith said: “Today's deal is a step in the right direction.
“The EU is our biggest trading partner, and I know how much businesses like iMEP have suffered from bad trading deals in the past.
“The current situation isn’t working, our lorries are delayed at borders and too many businesses are drowning in red tape just to trade with our nearest neighbours. Things have got to change.
“This will ease the pressure on local businesses, cut paperwork, and help them grow and create jobs here in Hyndburn and Haslingden.
