County council apologise after man told his parking bay is 'loading only'

The stretch of Blackburn Road, Accrington

Zafar Ali who lives on Blackburn Road was alarmed when its contractor put poles up on the roadside for new signs.

When he queries the posts' purpose he was told they were for 'loading bay only' signs.

Mr Ali, who has a wheelchair-bound mother-inlaw and elderly brother who lives with dementia, was horrified and contacted the authority, local Green councillor Sohail Asghar and Hyndburn MP Sarah Smith.

He has been in correspondence with the county council about his urgent need for a disabled or short-stay residential bay to assist my wheelchair-bound mother-in-law and elderly brother, who lives with dementia and is a frequent visitor and spends much of his time at our home when well enough.
