SARACENS held their nerve to secure a home semi-final and put an end to Gloucester-Hartpury unbeaten season.
A thrilling match went the way of Saracens as May Campbell’s second try of the match, converted by player of the match Zoe Harrison, was enough to see off the defedning chapions.
Harrison said that securing a home semi-final had been a crucial target.
“We’re so happy with that – we needed to secure the home semi and then build,” she said. “We didn’t put in the performance we wanted last time we played them, but we did today.
“It got really tight at the end and we need to work on our discipline, but we held out in the end.”
The visitors crossed early through Georgia Brock, with Saracens then having to rely on some spectacular last-ditch defensive efforts to stay within a score.
