Ice-cool Sheedy the hero for Bears

IT WAS a night of dizzying figures. Twenty four unanswered points by Lyon in the second half. The clock five minutes into the red. And three sweet, sweet drop goal points from Callum Sheedy to win it for the Bears.

Alfred Parisien’s converted score three minutes from time looked to have finished a comeback for the ages by Lyon. Bristol looked to have choked, with the capitulation stemming from the sin-binning of Kalaveti Ravouvou for a reckless tackle. But Sheedy and the pack kept cool to sneak Bristol back in front.

There were some great contests. Semi Radradra grew in stature on his Lyon debut against his former club, but he was matched by opposite number Benhard Janse van Rensburg whose blend of ferocity and smart handling encapsulated Bristol’s dominant first-half performance.
