Automatic Peace: Part 3
The Light
|Issue 44 - April 2024
Both tyranny and freedom require POWER to be effective. But it is MORALITY that makes the difference

TYRANNY
WE all know people who like to be in charge. Some are natural leaders, moral and upright, concerned with the welfare of the common people.
Others are selfish and misguided; they enjoy the thrill of power. A number of these people have a burning determination to force their will upon the rest of us for nothing but personal gratification. We may call these people tyrants.
Tyrannical ambition can seed and proliferate anywhere: the corporate world, financial institutions, so-called think tanks, churches and philanthropic foundations. Pressure groups, activist lobbies or clandestine organisations. And especially in the private board meetings of super-rich industrialists, operating beyond public scrutiny. Even colleagues, friends and family exhibit domineering zeal from time to time.
It is received wisdom that any complex society must have manufactured order to regulate and direct public affairs. To look after the population’s interests and welfare. To keep everyone safe and free from tyranny; a government.
