PRIORITIZING BRAIN HEALTH
WHEN MARVEL ACTOR CHRIS HEMSWORTH DECIDED TO participate in a documentary about living healthier and longer, he never dreamed his own life would be affected by one of the most devastating diseases of our time. As part of the series, Hemsworth took a genetic test and learned he carries two copies of an Alzheimer's risk gene, significantly raising his chances of developing the neurodegenerative disease. So he dived into the latest science on living better, in particular for improving brain health. “I'm definitely someone who suffers from the all-or-nothing approach, and it's something I've had to temper over the years,” Hemsworth says. “My 80-20 or 90-10 rule is to mostly do the right thing but occasionally just go, ‘Hey, eat all the wrong things’ or ‘Do a few of the wrong things.’ That, I feel, is a bit more compassionate to one's self.”
