With top-notch faculty, a strong research output and hands-on learning, the Prasanna School of Public Health is rapidly emerging as a frontrunner in social work education

PRASANNA SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH, MAHE, Manipal No. 14 (2025) up from No. 16 (2020)

The Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH) is among the youngest constituents of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), whose sprawling campus nestled between the Udupi coast and the steep Western Ghats hosts 33-odd institutes covering everything from Medicine to Artificial Intelligence. This multi-disciplinary setting is what gives PSPH and its Master of Social Work (MSW) programme a a.360-degree view, according to director Dr Cherian Varghese.

"So, what happens is a student who walks into this place gets a fully rounded view rather than getting a tubular vision of a particular speciality," he says. “A student who comes for MSW actually comes out as an expert in a multi-domain area which is what is the need of the hour.”
