What You Need To Know

1 That’s bit small for a Strymon pedal, isn’t it?

Yes, this is the first of a new pedal platform and is definitely more pedalboard-friendly.

2 What’s the idea?

Strymon wanted to come up with pedals that were smaller, simpler to operate and less expensive than its larger offerings, while still maintaining the company’s signature sound quality.

3 But it’s yet another reverb…

Why not? Strymon has a great history with reverb pedals and its customers had been asking for reverb in a smaller box, too. This one has taken the Cloud algorithm from the BigSky and tweaked it to make it more usable in varied musical situations.

Strymon has released the first in a new range of smaller, slightly less expensive pedals in the form of the Cloudburst, an ambient reverb pedal. With parallels to how Eventide took the popular Blackhole reverb algorithm from its Space pedal and gave it its own home as one of the dot9 pedal series, the Cloudburst offers an expanded version of the Cloud algorithm as found in Strymon’s flagship BigSky reverb pedal. While the Cloud algorithm is the starting point, it has been reworked to be a more versatile proposition.

This isn't a guitar I would normally choose for an article, but I think it demonstrates just how extreme Gibson's custom division was prepared to get in order to make a customer happy back in the day.
