Taking Shape

A new collection for women, Piaget's Sixtie infuses the brand's iconic trapeze watches from the 1960s with modern glamour

The late 1960s were a golden age for Piaget. With the family motto, “Do what has never been done before,” the brand launched its 21st Century collection, designed by Jean-Claude Gueit at Baselworld in 1969. The collection featured shapes like ovals, positioned both horizontally and vertically and in unexpected angles, rectangles of different proportions, along with squares and trapezoids. Implemented in wristwatches, cuffs, and sautoirs to provide a fresh take on watchmaking and jewellery, the trapezoid became a cult classic over time because of its asymmetrical and distinct shape. This year, Piaget has refreshed and revived the trapezoid shape in the Sixtie collection.

Launched at Watches and Wonders 2025 in four iterations—stainless steel with a diamond-set bezel (Ref. G0A50300), two versions in rose gold distinguished by diamonds on the bezel (Ref. G0A50304) or the lack thereof (Ref. G0A50302), and one model in a combination of rose gold and steel (Ref. G0A50301)—the watches are 29 mm x 25.3 mm with a 6.5 mm thickness, thanks to Piaget's slim Calibre 57P quartz movement beating inside. The dial features white sunray brushing with rose-gold hour markers, also slightly trapezoidal, Roman numerals at 6 and 12 o'clock, baton hands, and the Piaget logo at 3 o'clock. The diamond-set models feature 51 brilliant-cut diamonds (totalling 0.52 karats). More than just a time-telling piece, it is akin to jewellery, perhaps also the reason there is no seconds hand on the dial.
