A Conversation with Neeraj Walia, Managing Director & CEO Montblanc India
-
Beginning as a symbol of erudition, going on to become a livelihood necessity, and today evolving into an icon of luxury, the history of the writing instrument has been an eventful one. Today, in a world where writing has come to mean typing, or keying in, the pen has morphed into a sign of distinction, a mark of a person who lives life on his terms and is not a slave to the fashion of the moment. One writing instrument brand that has been the standard bearer for pens of the finest quality is Mont Blanc, distinguished by its iconic white tipped cap that is emblematic of the eponymous Swiss mountain from which it takes its name.
The Luxury Collection spoke to Neeraj Walia, Managing Director & CEO, Montblanc India, to understand what goes into the making of a Mont Blanc and what the future holds for fine writing instruments.
Montblanc has a wide range of products like writing instruments, bags, watches and accessories. Which segment is your focus for 2023?
Montblanc is a brand synonymous with heritage, quality and craftsmanship. While writing instruments have always been at the heart of what we do, leather and watches are equally important segments for us.
Under the creative direction of Marco Tomasetta, our recent creations come with inspiration from Mountain, Journey and Handwriting.
Whether it’s our writing instrument series Great Characters - Jimi Hendrix, the Extreme 3.0 and Sartorial collection in leather or the 1858 series of watches with the Geosphere 0 Oxygen and the GMT— there’s exciting newness and innovation across all.
