Can't Burst My Bubble
I have played sports my whole life, and was fascinated by bubble soccer, where each player wears an inflated sphere (the "bubble") around their upper body.
It looked so fun to bounce off of one another. While visiting the Adidas campus in Portland, where my daughter was interning, we came across a game of bubble soccer. I was elated when asked to join. I certainly spent more time being knocked around and rolling across the field than knocking down others, but I had the time of my life.

Pick Up a Pen
Years ago, I began writing down things I'd love to do at some point: Dive the Great Barrier Reef, hike Banff National Park, visit the foreign exchange students from Japan we once hosted, mountain bike in Moab and raft the Nantahala River. The list contained 19 items, and I've crossed off all of them. I always tell people the first step to accomplishing your dreams is writing them down.

Speak It into Existence
At age 60, with my kids grown and gone, I reflected on things I'd dreamed of in my youth-like being on stage and entertaining. I took a community college speech class and joined a speech team. From there, I began speaking for Mothers Against Drunk Driving, then published 70 songs and three books to encourage others. And now, at the age of 85, I am doing (clean!) stand-up comedy and teaching a class on it at my local university. It seems as if all you have to do is try, and doors will open.

WHEN ETHAN WARGO set up “shop” in his front yard in Sycamore, Illinois, last summer, he offered refreshment in the form of free compliments. (Because charging for them didn’t feel right to the 9-year-old.)
