MOVIES
1. See Offside Part of an outdoor soccer-film program.
Lincoln Center, July 14.
In honor of the World Cup, Film at Lincoln Center is presenting a series of free soccer-themed screenings in Hearst Plaza that includes She's the Man, Pelé, and this spectacularly funny-sad 2006 film from Jafar Panahi. In it, a group of young women try to sneak into the Iran-Bahrain World Cup qualifier, an event limited to men, and are consigned to a holding pen where the match is tantalizingly just out of view.

American Promise Have you seen our purple mountain majesties?
David Geffen Hall, July 3.
The New York Philharmonic interrupts its summer recess for a little Independence Eve patriotism: a one-act concert of music by stalwart Samuel Barber (the violin concerto, played by Amaryn Olmeda), Margaret Bonds, Florence Price, and Karen LeFrak, conducted by Eduardo Marturet.
