THIS CHEEKY CREW ARE TURNING CANCER INTO COMMUNITY

Carol Smith braced herself for fear, uncertainty and a daunting road ahead when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. What she never imagined was that, along the way, she would create and become part of a sisterhood in Busselton, in WA's South West, that ensures no woman faces cancer along.

Naming themselves the Shitty Titty Committee, the group, Carol says, knows firsthand that a breast cancer diagnosis can “flip your world upside down – physically, emotionally and mentally”.

“We exist to create a space where people feel seen, supported and celebrated no matter what their boobs, or lack thereof, look like,” Carol tells New Idea.

Carol was 36 when she discovered a small lump in her left breast. Diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, she immediately started a five-month course of intense chemotherapy.
