THIS AUSSIE COUPLE ARE ON A MISSION TO SUPPORT THEIR FELLOW VETERANS

When Ginger and Rusty Carr found themselves homeless just months after they left the Australian Defence Force (ADF), they couldn't believe the lack of support for veterans transitioning into civilian life.

The couple were both medically discharged in 2014 with little warning. They say they were left with “absolutely nothing”.

For Ginger, who served a total of 14 years across roles in the Navy and Air Force, being in the military was all she knew. “I joined when I was 17 so my whole adult life was there,” she tells New Idea.
