CANNABIS POISONING WARNING
With summer fast approaching, I'm keen to raise awareness about the impacts of irresponsible wild camping.
My two dogs - Caley and Josie - were the victims of cannabis toxicity poisoning after eating human faeces on a walk in Glen Rosa on the Isle of Arran. Glen Rosa is very popular with wild campers - some responsible, but many not so much.
After a glorious walk we headed home. Within an hour, Josie started showing concerning symptoms. She was struggling to walk and was afraid of every little noise or touch. I took her to the vet who spotted the signs of cannabis toxicity: low heart rate, low temperature, as well as the visible symptoms. The vet has seen this before and believed Josie had eaten human waste from someone who was using cannabis.
Caley was soon displaying the same symptoms. A urine sample confirmed a clear case of cannabis poisoning.
