What is Volunteers of America?
It’s one of the largest health and human service organizations in the country, with 32 affiliates. Our affiliate, Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas, covers Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Our Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) services support folks in Virginia and D.C. Most of these services are for adults, but currently in Virginia, we have in-home support that is available to both adults and children with disabilities. We also provide support in what we refer to as a residential congregate setting, which is essentially four or five individuals who may room together.
