A zippy autumn arrangement relies on lemony yellows and citrusy greens

Birmingham florist Buffy Hargett Miller anchored her dining room display on one end with three clay pots of varying sizes, in which she planted coleus and fall lettuces. From there, she kept a low profile. "You want to use things that are under 12 inches so people can see over them and talk,” she advises. Miller selected yellow and yellow-green finds from her local garden center to position down the table, layering in lettuce leaves and berries for additional color. Because the gourds aren't cut or pierced, they should last from early October through Thanksgiving.
