Designer Shantanu Garg brings Italian elegance and Indian nostalgia to life at 1932 Trevi in Jaipur

Housed within a 90-year-old estate in Jaipur, 1932 Trevi is a restaurant designed by Shantanu Garg that brings Indian heritage and Italian elegance into thoughtful conversation. Drawing inspiration from Rome’s Trevi Fountain, the space reflects the idea of a gathering place where design, food and memory come together with intention. “I wanted to create a place where people could pause, breathe and truly take in the moment, like you would at the original Trevi,” says Shantanu. The design unfolds with theatrical flair, beginning at the Padmadari, a foyer created from an extruded padma (lotus) motif with four arched openings. Referred to by Shantanu as a “gateway of celebration,” this entry sets the tone for what follows: a series of immersive zones that blur spatial boundaries while honouring cultural ones.
