A Fine Balance
Livingetc India

At the helm of Bengaluru-based Fulcrum Studio, architect Husna Rahaman discusses family, materials, and why meaningful design always moves the soul

In her striking new home, Hira, Husna Rahaman greets me with a warmth that instantly sets the tone for the afternoon. Named after her grandmother, Hira is as much a tribute as it is a reflection of Husna's design ethos - layered, thoughtful, and alive with character. Spanning five stories, the house is a masterful blend of avant-garde architecture and a deep connection to natural elements.
Light filters in through large windows, casting soft shadows on the muted grey walls, while bridges criss-cross between spaces, creating an experience that feels more like walking through a journey than a home.
"Hira is my sanctuary and my homage to family and nature, and to the balance I seek in both life and work," she says, her voice carrying the same assured elegance as the space around her.
