On our editor's trip to Maison&Objet in Paris, he found so many design brands he didn't know - and returned with new suggestions for a more energised take on decor

1 DOVAIN

Lisbon-based brand Dovain's stand was a highlight of the fair - a plethora of curves, abstract edges, pop colours and all with a very Livingetc-friendly contemporary twist. Helmed by creative director Sergio Prieto, I'm hoping to see more of its Liquorice Allsorts approach to decor, a reminder that primary hues work well with black piping. 2 HEIKE BUCHFELDER

As a co-founder of design platform Matter of Course, Heike Buchfelder has brought together a rich mix of female artists and makers, who showed at Maison&Objet. But Heike's own Fold light stood out, a giant floor lamp in the shape of a table lamp with circus-tent stripes and just as much bonhomie. Price on request. matter-of-course.com
