Our bedrooms became so much more than a place to rest during the pandemic: we expected them to flip from sanctuary to home office, from yoga studio to walk in wardrobe, and much more.

But now, things are changing, with bedrooms returning to their primary use simple R&R. We asked three industry experts to share their insider secrets on the latest trends in bedroom design...

SPACES JUST FOR SLEEP

‘In recent years, working habits have changed and we’re spending more time at home,’ says Molly. ‘Our bedrooms have become an escape away from the world. There has been a refocus on making our bedrooms a restful, stylish and calm place that you go to wind down and get a good night’s sleep.’ Lena concurs: ‘Our bedrooms should solely be a place to relax, sleep and get ready.’

Despite this, our experts all agree that we’re more demanding of how our bedrooms serve us: ‘The bedroom needs to evoke a sense of serenity – and this applies to everything from storage to decor to the bed itself,’ says Lena. ‘We all know the importance of rest, so I would say, keep your bedroom for sleeping and make sure it’s clutter-free,’ says Molly. ‘Most of us don’t have the luxury of a dressing room, but keeping my wardrobe tidy and clothes ironed always makes me feel calmer.’
