For its latest collaboration, Rylock Windows & Doors has teamed up with Balcombe Constructions on the aptly named Sand & Stone residence. Radiating timeless elegance, this stunning residence boasts precise and well considered detailing. And, lucky for us, we had the chance to speak with Stewart Prain, building designer from Balcombe Constructions. Let's dive in!

What type of windows and doors were specified at Sand & Stone and in which rooms?

All the windows and doors were from Rylock’s Commercial Series. The bedrooms typically feature awning windows, as do the walk-in robes and ensuites. The downstairs living areas have electrically operated awning sashes above large fixed panels to maximise views. A four-panel sliding door was positioned in the main living area as it opens up to the vast entertaining space outside, and the gym has a two-panel sliding door. The home's entry door is a large hinged unit with a roller catch, while the laundry door is an open-in hinged door with an integrated security screen.

Why were these windows and doors specified?

Balcombe Constructions has a long history of using Rylock aluminium windows and doors. The Commercial Series suits the large sizes required and was able to be tailored to suit differing wall thicknesses and internal finishes (such as plaster reveals versus architraves). In a project where low-maintenance and durability were key considerations for the client, the powder-coated aluminium frames were a perfect match.
