The estate’s restoration is Goa’s most ambitious eco-friendly project. The original structures were preserved, with old stone, wood and repurposed roof tiles, and we restored the railings, doors and windows in order to minimise waste. Flirting with the idea of a retirement home, city-dweller Vivek Soni was certain about settling in Goa.

His wife, Rubeena Singh, however, remained unconvinced that sun, sand, and surf were enough...she craved soulfulness. However, their lockdown stay in Goa was the turning point and Rubeena began scouring the state for an Indo-Portuguese bungalow, and this time, Vivek hesitated.
