Osteomyelitis is a condition where an infection develops in the bone. While it is not very common, it can cause long-term problems if left untreated. The good news is that if caught early, osteomyelitis can usually be treated successfully with medicines or surgery.

Osteomyelitis is an infection that affects the bone and the bone marrow. It can happen when bacteria or, in rare cases, fungi enter the bone through the bloodstream, an injury, or after surgery. People with weak immune systems, diabetes, or poor circulation are at a higher risk of developing this condition.
