|August 2025
Silvia Venturini Fendi, creative director at FENDI, speaks to L'OFFICIEL SINGAPORE about the house's 100th anniversary and the big family hug that took place backstage after the brand's Fall/Winter 2025 show
FENDI turns 100. If you had to put it in words, what has brand achieved in its century of being, and what do you hope for the house in the years to come?
Our motto here at FENDI is “nothing is impossible” — let’s see where it takes us! We know what FENDI is, our heritage is strong and clear to us, yet we are continuously evolving and being open to change. Our aim is to innovate and maintain the FENDI vision while at the same time preserving our unique traditions and craftsmanship, and always adding a fun touch. In the future, we will continue in the way we did, embracing new challenges with the same curiosity. That’s the secret: be open-minded. We may be a traditional company with a big history, but when many things were changing, we were always there to take risks. That’s part of the FENDI DNA.
Could you describe one thing that has stayed largely constant at FENDI, and one thing that has seen the most change?
The FENDI craftsmanship and savoir faire is what stays in time and what my grandmother, my mother and her sisters have always worked for. Many of our FENDI products are hand-sewn with the same Selleria stitches used by my grandmother; today they are cut with sophisticated machines that ensure a precision otherwise unattainable, also speeding up the process, but the substance is unchanged. At the same time, we are always striving for innovation and continuous experimentation, investing in new research and technology. Our FENDI Factory in Capannuccia, Florence, looks more like a science lab. It’s where we do all our innovation research, and we never stop exploring new ideas.
