With two prior singles on his belt, EXO's CHANYEOL is stepping into the limelight as a solo artist as he returns with his debut mini-album, titled Black Out.
Affectionately named the “Happy Virus” by EXO-Ls, CHANYEOL is a constant surge of positivity and brightness that lights up any space he is in. Even as a veteran with over a decade of experience in the K-pop industry, CHANYEOL is taking on his latest venture with the mindset of a newcomer, where he launches his debut solo mini-album Black Out.
One of the leading stars within the third-generation “Hallyu Wave”, CHANYEOL is showing no signs of slowing down as he unveiled his six-track mini-album weeks ago. And right here, right now, the global star joins us with an exclusive interview to talk about his new beginnings and adventures, accompanied by a stunning set of visuals captured in the electrifying streets of Hong Kong.
L’OFFICIEL: Congratulations on achieving your dream of releasing a solo mini-album BLACK OUT! Can you share with us what your album aims to express? CHANYEOL: My biggest desire for this album was to showcase great music. I believe the best way to thank all the EXO-Ls waiting is by sharing great music.
LO: Which lyric from the album touches you the most, and why? CY: In the song I’m on your side too, which I wrote thinking of EXO-Ls, there’s a lyric that goes, “The words I was too shy to say often, I want to hold your small hands and share my overflowing emotions with you.” I feel this line perfectly encapsulates my emotions.
