After unearthing police corruption in the first series of Karen Pirie, the titular Scottish cop has been promoted to detective inspector as the crime drama returns.

'Karen has more power but she doesn't really know how to act,' explains Lauren Lyle, who plays her. 'It's a big step up - she's in charge of everyone - but she's still young and seems even less afraid than before to break rules to get results!'
