ANNA MADELEY on the challenges ahead for Mrs Hall in the season finale

Facing the FUTURE

Emotions are running high for the residents of Skeldale House as the sixth series of 5's nostalgic vet drama All Creatures Great and Small concludes this week.

After marking Victory in Europe Day, Mrs Hall (played by Anna Madeley) is helping put together a feast in the (fictional) Yorkshire Dales village of Darrowby to celebrate Victory over Japan Day, which signals the end of World War Two in the Pacific.

But the caring housekeeper and her boss, Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West), are also growing increasingly worried about Siegfried's younger brother, Tristan (Callum Woodhouse).

The troubled vet has been haunted by his wartime experiences since returning home on leave from serving on the frontline in Italy, and an unsettling incident now causes him to disappear. Can Mrs Hall and Siegfried find Tristan, and discover what's going on?

TV Times caught up with Anna for an exclusive interview to find out more...

imageJapan's surrender to the Allied forces in effect ends World War Two. How does this news impact the Darrowby locals?

The end of the war is a relief, because it has been hard. They've taken stock of how much it has changed everyone's lives. Now, it's about starting to realise that there was a world before, and you might be able to get to the other side of that.

But how do you come home and rebuild your life? How do you reconcile yourself with what happened and what you did, and what other people did? There's a journey in that. It's about seeing how Darrowby comes back together.
