DESPITE TWO EYE CONDITIONSTHE MEDALIST-AND DWTS FINALIST-IS STILL A WINNER
-
In the Spotlight "A lot of people have misaligned eyes, so it's cool to shed some light on it," says Nedoroscik of being open about his eye conditions.
As a kid, Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik struggled to play a game of catch with friends. Diagnosed at birth with two eye conditions, the Team U.S.A. gymnast has trouble judging distances and seeing in bright light. “In the sunlight, trying to catch a football with no depth perception, you can imagine how difficult that would be," he says.
Instead the 26-year-old turned his attention indoors to gaming, mastering the Rubik's Cube (he can solve one in 15 seconds) and gymnastics, which led him to win two medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer despite his challenges.
"I never thought my eye conditions would stop me," he says of living with strabismus and colobomas (see box).

Gayle King Recalls Catching Her Ex-Husband Cheating With Her Friend
Gayle King vividly remembers the moment she discovered her ex-husband William Bumpus’s infidelity. In a May 27 episode of Call Her Daddy, the TV journalist, 71, recounted returning home after a canceled flight to find Bumpus, 67, with one of her friends. “I even said, ‘I thought we were friends.’ I sounded so pitiful,” King said. After the interview, Bumpus, an attorney, publicly expressed his “deepest apologies” for “the pain I caused decades ago” to King and their kids, Kirby, 40, and William Jr., 39. King told TMZ she was “surprised” by the statement and “appreciated what he had to say.”
