‘I Had to Find Her’

When her twin sister, Katlyn Harp, vanished overnight, Heather Lane feared the worst—and set out to solve the case

On June 20, 2025, Heather Lane learned from her brother-in-law Vinny Harp that her twin sister, Katlyn Harp, 33, was missing in Bloomsburg, Pa. Alarmed, Heather immediately led a search effort to find the mother of five, who was last seen at her family’s home after reportedly quarreling with her husband. Nine days later Pennsylvania State Police arrested Vinny on suspicion of murder. He has pleaded not guilty to criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and other charges in the death of his wife. Here, in her own words, Heather, 34, opens up about her battle to solve her beloved sister’s case.

My sister Katlyn was my soulmate. It might seem surprising since we had so little in common—she was impulsive and carefree, whereas I’m practical and responsible. In fact, she was everything I’m not, but she was also the person I admired and loved more than anyone else in the world. We cemented that bond when we turned 30 in 2021. Katlyn planned a weekend bash in the Poconos, and it was decided that I would get my first tattoo. She already had more tattoos than I could count. We left the tattoo parlor with four words inked across our forearms. I chose “You Keep Me Wild,” and she chose “You Keep Me Sane.”
