Are you inclined to take up law as a career option? Kalwyna Rathod gives you a clear picture to help you take the right decision
The legal series on television have always been riveting. No surprise if Harvey Specter in Suits or Ally McBeal in the eponymous classic series make you want to switch careers or pursue law as an option. We have good onscreen lawyers as role models closer home too – Rani Mukerji in Veer Zaara, Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna in Section 375, Amitabh Bachchan in Pink, Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in Jolly LLB, Yami Gautam in Batti Gul Meter Chalu, and more. But is the legal profession in real life as riveting as in reel life? What does it take to be a lawyer, and what are the options in the field of law? Read on for more.
AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE CONSTANTLY CHALLENGED
Delhi-based Nidhi Killawala is a corporate lawyer specialising in private equity, venture capital investments, and mergers and acquisitions, and a partner at one of India’s leading and largest law firms. “Law has always fascinated me, and I was told by my parents at a young age that my ability to communicate and convince others is rather persuasive,” she reveals. “Around the same time, I chanced upon the Perry Mason series of books, and I knew for sure that I wanted to be a lawyer.”
