Over 600 years old, the Forbidden City is an imperial palace complex in Beijing, China. Directly translated from Zijincheng in Chinese, it is a prized landmark of the capital city of the most populated country in the world.
The Forbidden City spans 178 acres (72 hectares) and it took 14 years to build, starting in 1406 till 1420. What's interesting to note is that it took over 10,00,000 workers to construct this magnificent palace!
